About the team
Design owns the product interface, the website, and the visual language that has to make an industrial knowledge graph feel usable rather than intimidating. Two people today, working closely enough with engineering that a design does not get thrown over a wall. You will often be sitting next to the person building it.
About the role
Our users are maintenance technicians and the supervisors above them. They are wearing gloves, standing near loud machinery, often on a poor connection, and they have roughly forty seconds of patience before they go back to the WhatsApp group they were already using.
That is the whole design brief. Tap targets are large because hands are gloved. Contrast is high because the light is bad. Flows are short because attention is short. Everything you design will be judged by whether a technician uses it on a Tuesday afternoon without being told to, not by whether it looks good in a portfolio shot.
You will work across both ends: the field interface technicians touch, and the dashboards their managers read.
What you'll do
- Own features from problem framing through to shipped interface
- Run plant visits and watch real technicians work. This is not optional in this role
- Design for gloves, glare, noise, and intermittent connectivity as first-class constraints
- Build and maintain the design system alongside engineering, in code where useful
- Design the manager-facing dashboards: dense data that stays readable
- Prototype at whatever fidelity answers the question fastest
- Test with real users and change your mind in public when the test says so
What we're looking for
- Three or more years designing software products, with shipped work you can walk us through
- Strong Figma, and comfort building interactive prototypes
- A portfolio that shows your reasoning, not only final screens. We want the wrong turns too
- Genuine interest in operational, data-dense, unglamorous interfaces
- Willing to spend real time on a factory floor
- Fluent Bahasa Indonesia for user research; working English for internal docs
Bonus points
- Experience with industrial, logistics, healthcare, or other high-stakes operational tools
- You can write front-end code well enough to prototype or tune your own work
- Data visualisation and information design background
- Mobile-first design for constrained devices and poor networks
Compensation
We benchmark against Jakarta and Bandung product design rates, and review annually. This role carries equity. The band is discussed openly on the first call. We will not ask what you currently earn.
How we hire
- Portfolio review. Send it with your application; we look at work before CVs.
- Intro call, 30 minutes. Mutual context, plus the honest state of the product.
- Portfolio deep-dive, 90 minutes. Two projects, in depth. We will ask what you would do differently.
- Paid design exercise, timeboxed to four hours. A real problem from our backlog, with written feedback either way.
- Plant visit, half a day. You see the environment you would be designing for, then we both decide.

How long does hiring take?
Roughly two weeks from first call to decision. Every stage is described on the role's own page, so you know what is coming before you start.
What should I send?

Do you sponsor relocation?

For some engineering roles, yes. Deployment and research roles need regular time on site, because the work is physically at the plant.
